Rick Olshak is a civil rights, conflict resolution, and student affairs/student conduct practitioner who currently serves as a senior consultant with TNG Consulting, LLC.
Previously, Rick served as the Director of Title IX and Student Conduct Compliance for The Texas A&M University System, as Associate Dean of Students (and previously as Director of Student Dispute Resolution Services) at Illinois State University, as Assistant Director of Residential Services for Judicial Programs at The State University of New York College at Cortland, and as Coordinator of Student Judicial Services at Georgetown University.
Rick is originally from Albany, New York (raised in nearby Schenectady) and earned a bachelor's degree in public communication from The College of Saint Rose (NY). He then earned a master's degree in college student personnel from Western Illinois University. Rick would eventually complete his coursework towards a doctorate in education at Illinois State University.
Along his professional path, Rick gained training as a mediator, and has served as a mediator in university, community, and court settings in the District of Columbia, New York State, Illinois, Texas, and California. Rick has also served as a certified alcohol and drug educator.
As a consultant, Rick has provided training in conflict resolution to practitioners across the United States. In 2001, Rick authored and published "Training Mediators in a College and University Setting" (LRP Publications), and also served that year as President of the Association for Student Judicial Affairs (now Association for Student Conduct Administration).
Rick and his wife Sandra are parents of five children and stepchildren, and reside with their dogs in Los Angeles.
